Much Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" controversy has been made of NBC editing out Pamela Anderson's pole-dancing in this past Monday's "Elton John: The Red Piano," taped from the similarly named Las Vegas show at Caesars Palace.

The segment cut was Elton John singing "The Bitch is Back" against a backdrop of Anderson seducing a dance pole. This segment was included in press releases and preview copies sent out to critics, which reviewed the show uncensored.

The New York Daily News reviewed the show with the pole-dancing as "the biggest visual effect of the night," saying "director Dave Mallet chooses his camera angles and edits very judiciously, but leaves enough to preserve the hour's most Vegas-worthy moment."

A last-minute decision, NBC's standards and practices decided Pamela Anderson wasn't ready for prime time nor Vegas worthy. In a statement released the day after airing, NBC said: "We believed the content was not appropriate for 8 p.m.-7 Central time -- and decided to pull the song from the special."

Tonight, Bravo (9 p.m. on Cox Cable Channel 53 in Las Vegas) rebroadcasts "Elton John: The Red Piano."
