You're Invited to the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event
Two things you can count on on the Fourth of July in Las Vegas...temperatures hot enough to cook a tourist on the sidewalk and the biggest poker on earth, the World Series of Poker. The Rio Resort in Las Vegas is packed with thousands of poker players from around the world vying for the most coveted prize in all of poker, the WSOP Main Event Championship bracelet. Of course the $8.5 million that goes with the immortality of having your name placed in poker's most famous history book isn't a bad add-on.
The 2008 WSOP Main Event kicked off at the Rio Pavilion at noon Thursday and continues daily until July 14th when the nine players making up the final table are decided from the thousands that paid $10,000 to enter the tournament. The final table will be played in early November.
