Caesars Palace to delay Octavius Tower
Last week, Harrah's laid off or reduced to part-time 70 employees at Rio Las Vegas.
Like other gaming companies, Harrah's has been struggling in the recession, posting a Q3 loss of $129.7 million (Q3 last year was a profit of $244.4 million).
Now they've announced that the new tower at Caesars Palace will be postponed.
Originally scheduled to open this summer, the $1.3 billion Octavius Tower can be seen on the offramp from I-15 to Flamingo, and it would've added 665 rooms.
The delay only affects the room openings themselves; the added convention space and new pool will still open this summer.
