Pinball Hall of Fame Museum moves closer to Strip

pinballhall2.jpg

The little-known gem that is the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum will be moving closer to the Strip.

Run by Tim Arnold and the Las Vegas Pinball Collectors Club, the current Trop location holds the world's largest pinball collection -- all in working order and ready to play by the public.

The 1,200 machines will be moved to 1610 E. Tropicana, at a warehouse in the same development as the Liberace Museum. The new warehouse is double the size of the current location.

The new location is expected to open within the next 3 months.

The museum will continue to be non-profit and operates on donations. Any extra quarters over their monthly budget is donated to the Salvation Army.

Michelin Guide to skip Vegas for 2010

The popular Michelin Guides will take a respite from Las Vegas for 2010.

In addition to Las Vegas, the Guide will also take a break from publishing Los Angeles. Guides for both cities are expected to resume in 2011.

The Michelin Guide rates restaurants from 1 to 3 stars. To date, only Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand has 3 stars.

The down economy was cited as the reason for skipping a year.

Howard Stern cohost/comedian Artie Lange and stalwart Ronnie "The Limo Driver" Mund will be at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino this weekend as they shoot the first episode of the new Howard TV On Demand show "Artie's Party: A Search for Miss Howard TV."

Searching poolside at Hard Rock offers good odds that they will find their swimsuit gal.

The winner will get an interview with Stern on his Sirius XM satellite show, two nights in a New York City hotel, and $250 cash. There's no mention of transportation to NYC. And just $250? Really, Howard.

To be considered a candidate, just stop by the Hard Rock pool on June 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

You can see the episode of "Artie's Party" on Howard TV On Demand during the summer.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas approached by other casinos

The mammoth beauty on North Strip that is Fontainebleau Las Vegas sits like a glinting monolith of steel and concrete, partially finished because some of its bankers refused the final payment needed to complete the hotel-casino, forcing it into bankruptcy.

Construction ceased, and it took over a week to remove all of the equipment.

Fontainebleau is suing its banks to recover the promised funding, but now they've been approached by other casinos to finance the completion.

However it plays out, we expect to see Fontainebleau eventually up and running, perhaps by next year... and perhaps good timing, if the economy has picked up by then.

Manny Pacquaio vs. Miguel Cotto?

Manny Pacquaio's next opponent may be Miguel Cotto.

Pacquaio has just come off back-to-back victories against Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton, both in Las Vegas.

The next fight is also planned for Vegas on Nov. 14, most likely at MGM Grand.

Should the fight be confirmed, both boxers will fight below welterweight.

Las Vegas Hilton welcomes Cheap Trick

Cheap Trick is setting up shop at the Las Vegas Hilton.

In between Barry Manilow's dark times (when he's not performing at the theater, not referring to his mood), Cheap Trick will be onstage for a limited engagement. And if it's a smash? Expect them to return regularly.

We have no doubt it will be a smash, because the show will not just be a Cheap Trick concert but Sgt. Pepper Live -- a live concert of The Beatles' album of the same name.

Not your ordinary concert, the shows will also feature a symphony orchestra and set design.

Tickets begin at $65 and go on sale June 13 at the Las Vegas Hilton box office.

Shows are Sept. 13-15, 17-19, ad 21-23.

This is Tyson's third marriage, exchanging vows in the Hilton's La Bella Wedding Chapel.

The ceremony was low-key without guests.

Two weeks ago, Tyson's 4-year-old daughter Exodus (from his previous wife) was killed in a freak treadmill accident when the cord wrapped around her neck.

Coroner determines accidental death for Danny Gans

Any time someone dies young, the rumor mill ramps up with possible causes other than a natural death.

This was also the case with 52-year-old Wynn Encore headliner Danny Gans, who died in his sleep early last month.

Gans had just signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal with Wynn and was widely known to have lived a clean life, so when he died at his home in Henderson, Nev., people began to whisper about possible drug use.

That rumor can finally be laid to rest, as the toxicology report from his autopsy revealed that he died from a toxic reaction to the prescription painkiller Dilaudid.

Gans had constant chronic back pain most of his life, from playing minor league baseball and hazards of his performances.

And now they'll be back at the Steve Wyrick Theater (at Planet Hollywood) for a limited time, beginning June 25 and running through Aug. 16.

This will mark his first time back since 2004.

Michael Jackson rumored to want a Thriller-themed casino in Las Vegas

An odd Michael Jackson rumor goes hand in hand with Las Vegas.

While he was living here, there was talk of Jackson staging a comeback, in residency at a casino. That didn't happen, but he did announce a tour in the UK.

Another rumor had Jackson installing a giant replica of his face in the Nevada desert, big enough for landing plans to see.

Now, Jackson wants to open a Las Vegas casino themed around his hit song "Thriller." The horror-branded casino would contain zombies and songs from the multi-platinum album.

Jackson has over $100 million in debt, and along with his tour, he's looking for ways to pay it down.

If it happens, it would come at a time when Las Vegas casinos are moving away from themes.

Hangover in Las Vegas

A hangover is nothing out of the ordinary in Las Vegas, but we're talking about the new movie that opens this weekend.

The Hangover is set in Las Vegas, where the groomsmen lose their groom in a drunken party. It stars Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, and Heather Graham.

You may have been lucky enough to get invited to the premiere of the movie tonight, but if not, you can have the next best thing -- the film's afterparty.

The party begins at 9 p.m. tonight at McFadden's (at Rio), with a $10 open bar, half-price appetizers, and movie merchandise giveaways. You must be at least 21.

No Doubt returns to Las Vegas

If you missed the relaunch of No Doubt (with Gwen Stefani) at the Tiger Jam a couple weeks ago, you have another chance.

No Doubt will be back in Las Vegas on Aug. 7, this time at the new Joint (at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino).

This new venue is fast shaping up to be our favorite new concert hall, and it looks to be the favorite of all the name bands as well. (Carlos Santana liked it enough that he's now in residency there.)

No Doubt will be joined with Panic at the Disco and The Sounds.

Tickets go on sale June 6 at noon and begin at $95.

Purchase at the Hard Rock box office or Ticketmaster.com (with all their fees).
