McCarren International Airport's Lost Passengers

Clark County Department of Aviation is reporting a 9.8% drop in passenger counts at McCarren International Airport during August. August 2008 saw almost 4 million passengers while August 2009 tallied closer to 3.5 million flyers.
McCarren's No.1 carrier, Southwest Airlines, showed a 4.1% drop while the No. 2 carrier, US Airways, suffered a 34.6% drop in passengers from the same period last year. US Airways has canceled many of its scheduled flights into and out of McCarren as a result of the economic problems and rising fuel costs which helps account for the plummet in traffic. No. 5 carrier, American Airlines, had a 4.9% increase in passengers.

Airport traffic is probably one of the factors considered in returning to the tried and true, "What happens here probably breaks most of the commandants but we won't tell anyone," national ad campaign. Look for all new Vegas ads coming soon to a TV near you.
