Sadly, when we stopped by Gold Coast’s poker room over the weekend, we found the above sign.
We enjoyed the rollicking poker room at Gold Coast, full of action-oriented locals in limit games this side of the California card barns.
That was when the poker room was near the back of the casino near the steakhouse.
Then it renovated and was moved toward the front, to the south of TGI Fridays.
And since then (and since the economy tanked, poker interest waned, and the UIGEA), the room has struggled keeping even one table going. Their sit-n-go promotion bombed, with just a few signups but never running.
We even enjoyed hanging out here during WSOP. Gold Coast is a cheap room to stay in, and we could relax playing a few hands of 3/6 before going to bed.
The sign says to visit The Orleans, though to anyone interested in playing should probably make the short walk to Rio next door or The Palms across the street.
As for the space, it is already being converted into a video poker room.
