Jonathan Duhamel became the first Canadian to win the World Series of Poker Main Event Monday evening when on hand 44 of heads-up play his Ace high hand out pointed John Racener's King high hand and the most coveted title in all of poker belonged to the 23 year-old. It almost ended on the tenth hand of play when Racener shoved all-in with pocket queens and Duhamel couldn't improve his King high; but, the writing was on the wall. Jonathan Duhamel's 6-1 chip lead was mission impossible for John Racener and winning was a long shot, way too long.
Jonathan Duhamel takes $8,944,310 in cash and the coveted diamond and gold bracelet back to Canada, while his name has been permanently inscribed in poker's history book. Congratulations to this year's WSOP Main Event Champion, Jonathan Duhamel.
