The Las Vegas Hilton poker room is located at the entrance to the cavernous sports book. The Sports Book's parking lot and entrance located in the rear of the hotel makes parking and walking into the room quick and easy. Nine tables are located in the same space as the Hilton's original poker room. The back wall of the poker room is covered with plasma displays, the tables are well spaced and the original ceiling from the old room provides some of the best lighting in town. All tables have Shufflemasters for more hands per hour and a smooth game. Coffee service is available 24 hours and a great deli snack bar provides quick food options.
Marc Nelson, poker room manager, brings more than a decade of casino experience to poker operations at the Hilton offering the poker player a quality playing experience. I spent some time talking to poker room shift manager and tournament director, Mark Jenkins. Mark is responsible for the weekly $170 buy-in No-limit Hold'em tournament offered every Saturday at 1:00 PM. No rebuys or add-ons are offered in the freeze-out event. Players receive $1,200 in chips and can add another $500 in tournament chips by taking the $5 dealer's bonus. Blind levels are 30 minutes and the blind structure begins at $10-$20 and progresses at a more moderate rate, a format preferred by tournament players.
The Hilton's poker room offers a monthly $20,000 free roll tournament. Players qualify by playing 40 hours. Bonus chips are awarded at 50 and 60 hours. A $100,000 Black Gold Poker Tournament is offered for players qualifying through play at the slots or table games.
