Rain in Las Vegas is so rare that when it does come down the wet stuff generally disrupts the city with flooded streets, washed away houses, and driving becomes a really big gamble. So far this year, all 22 days of it, we have received more rain than we did in all of 2009. The 2009 rainfall total for Las Vegas was just 1.59 inches and at 4:45PM today we have received 1.62 inches for 2010. We also set two records today with one for rainfall on this date and another for lowest all-time record sea level pressure (barometric pressure) of 29.03 easily breaking the 1944 record low of 29.37.
The weather service believes conditions will improve for the weekend.
