
With two events of the 2009 Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza I complete. the initial numbers are looking great for poker. Even though we are experiencing the deepest economic decline in memory the first event ($330 NLHE) pulled in 447 players for a prize pool of $129,407. The winner received $40,117 in cash, not bad for a $300 buy-in poker tournament. The first event paid 36 places.
Event #2 ($330 NLHE) saw 336 players take a seat as they play for a $97,272 prize pool. First place received $30,155 in cash after a couple of days of poker, while the top 27 finishers go home with a piece of the purse.
