Welcome to LasVegasVegas.com Buyer Tips

This page is for the first time eBay visitor or anyone that would like a little guidance to become a registered eBay user and shopper in the eBay marketplace.  The steps required to register with eBay are offered in a simple to follow "cookbook recipe" form to guide you through the process of setting up your personal eBay account.

We are providing some information and links to help make your introduction to this vast marketplace a pleasurable experience.  The eBay shopping experience is not much different than going to your local shopping mall with a few exceptions.  The most noticeable differences are the ease and security of never leaving your home, Store hours 24/7eBay (Well, almost 24/7, system maintenance occurs for a couple of hours every Thursday from 10:00pm to midnight, EST), an almost endless variety of items for sale and some of the best bargains you will find anywhere.

Step 2

Things you will need

  • eBay user ID
  • eBay Password

Read the eBay user ID tips then choose your user ID carefully.  Choose an ID that best suits you or describes your interest to avoid wanting to change your user ID in the future. (eBay allows you to change your ID once every thirty days)  Fill in the blanks on the form with your user ID and password.  Complete the secret question section and click the continue button.  If the user ID you have selected is already taken you will get a form to re-enter a different ID.  There are millions of registered users on eBay so you may have to try a number of different names until you find an available one you prefer.  Once you have your user ID accepted you are now registered and have joined the largest shopping community known to man.

Congratulations! Now lets go shopping.

eBay new user good places to go.

At this time you may want to read some of the information available from eBay.  A good starting point would be eBay's basics page where you can find all sorts of information geared for the novice as well as the experienced eBayer.  Another invaluable tool is the eBay community library where you can find great reference information for buyers and sellers.

Browsing and searching

You may want to begin your eBay shopping experience using the browse function located at the top of the home page to open a page of links to the many categories of merchandise available.  The small number following the category lets you know how many items are currently available.  If you are looking for a specific item you may choose to open the search page where you can enter the item info and go directly to what you want.

Bidding

You have found the item of your dreams and want to bid so what do you do?  Scroll down the page until you come to the  BIDDING area and enter your opening bid. Click here to see a sample auction.  Explore the sample auction page and become familiar with some of the controls and features.  This advanced style auction page has links located at the top that allows you to go directly to the bidding area.  You may want to take advantage of proxy bidding, an eBay feature that allows you to enter your top bid and eBay will bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid.  Finally, you should carefully inspect the auction before you bid and email any questions you may have for the seller.  Your checklist should include knowing exactly what is being offered, condition of item, cost and method of delivering the item to you, warranty if any, return merchandise policy, acceptable forms of payment and perhaps most important, what other eBay buyers have to say about this seller through feedback (the number in prentices following the user ID) . One of the greatest features of eBay is user feedback , a voluntary public forum of comments from both parties, buyers and sellers, involved in a transaction.  This powerful feature allows you to profile a seller before you commit to purchase the item with your bid.  DO NOT bid unless you fully intend to purchase the item and pay for it.  Your bid is a legally binding contract and should be treated as such.

After the Auction has ended

OK, the auction has ended and you don't know what to do.  The seller, certainly an experienced seller, is expected to make contact with you, the buyer, to complete the auction.  This is no different than being at you local mall.  You have selected your merchandise and are now at the cash register.  Just like the mall store the eBay seller should take charge and guide you through the transaction with timely emails.  If you don't receive an email from the seller within a day or so you should send them an email inquiring about the status of the auction.  You would be wise to print out a copy of the ended auction and use it to track the progress of the transaction.

How to Pay

The last item we will cover is payment.  Most sellers state the accepted methods of payment and usually list a preferred method.  If this information is missing from the auction you should email the seller and inquire.  LasVegasVegas.com prefers paypal for speed, ease and convenience.   Well over half of our auctions are paid through  Paypal, an online payment service, and we can report no problems whatsoever, none, in more than a year of use.  If you read all of this and have not registered then click registration.  Sign up with Paypal. Go directly to LasVegasVegas auctions.  Enjoy your eBay shopping experience.
