Las Vegas Poker This Week
Caesars Palace Classic kicks off the Main Event of the tournament today at High Noon in the Caesars Palace Poker Tournament Room. The $10,000 buy-in event runs for three days with a scheduled Wednesday final table. Expect to see a large number of pro players taking a seat for the shuffle up and deal command. Caesars' poker has enjoyed a successful run with the Classic after thousands of poker players made the trek to play at the Roman Realm on the Las Vegas Strip so it will probably become an annual happening.
Action continues in downtown Las Vegas at Binion's with the Binion's Poker Open tournament going through Oct 31. Stop by the old historic joint for an opportunity to play in a lower buy-in event. Buy-ins range from a modest $100 up to $1,000 for the championship tourney.
Most of the poker talk around town this week centers on the cheating apparently going on with online poker rooms, specifically Absolute Poker. Old timers have that "I told you so" look in their eye when they discuss the current charges flying about. A long time pro reminded me that anytime you gather a pile of money there will always be someone stealing some of it. Online poker rooms represent a pile of money that totals in the billions so do you really believe everyone is going to play nice? Are you so gullible as to believe that you are getting a fair game when you fire up the computer?
This online can of worms appears to be growing ever larger and involving what might be a well organized groups operating both inside and out that are stealing huge sums of money from unsuspecting online players. Worse yet, what will be the impact on our legalization of online efforts in the US? This is exactly the dirt the do-gooders need to keep online poker off line for a long time. Perhaps its time you re-evaluated your online poker play. Maybe its time to move to an online poker room that isn't in the news as a hotbed of cheats and crooks. At least now you know why everyone folds everytime you get pocket rockets. Forget about those poker playing bots, shoot the people running the crooked online poker rooms scams.
