Caesars Palace opened for business in 1966 and instantly established the benchmark for Las Vegas luxury resorts. Now under the flag of Harrah's Entertainment the hotel has grown from the original 680 to 3348 guest rooms. Five hotel towers provide a myriad of choices in accommodations. Food at Caesars Palace comes from a never ending menu of choices. From the legendary dining experiences to be had at Restaurant Guy Savoy, Bradley Ogden or Rao's to a quiet moment for a cappuccino and pastry at the Cyprus Street Marketplace. Hungry for great southwest specialties then head for the Mesa Grill while Asian food connoisseurs will enjoy Hyakumi or the Empress Court. Acclaimed Chef Jean-Marie Josselin offers a Hawaii and Euro-Pacific experience at his 808 restaurant.
Neros remains one of the best spots in town to order a steak and those that can't decide can stop by the fabulous Vegas style Café Lago Buffet. The Forum Shops are a world destination offering a range of delights found nowhere else. 160 boutiques and shops plus 13 restaurants will make the Forum your favorite shopping experience. The restaurants include many of my local favorites including Joe's Seafood, Palm Steakhouse, BOA Steakhouse and Sushi Roku.
Caesars Palace nightlife includes the famous Pure Nightclub, a favorite haunt of the beautiful people, and the ultra-trendy Pussycat Dolls Lounge. Always known for entertainment you'll find Super Stars Elton John and Celine Dion performing at Caesars; but, if you want to see Celine Dion you'd better hurry because her reign ends mid-December. Bette Midler is coming in February.
Fourteen thousand square feet make up the Caesars Palace Poker Room. Located adjacent to the 250 seat Race and Sports Book, next to the Pure Night Club makes the room easy to find. Looking into the foyer you can see some of the original LeRoy Neiman paintings. The main poker room has 28 tables and a separate tournament room adds 32 tables resulting in a 60 table poker complex. Poker Operations at Caesars Palace are managed by Jim Pedulla. Jason Halprin handles the Tournament Director's duties.
Caesars Palace Poker Room spreads limit Texas Hold'em $3-$6, $6-$12, $10-$20, $20-$40 and up and all games offer an optional Half or Full Kill. No Limit Hold'em is available in $1-$2 with a $100-$500 buy-in, $2-$5 with a $200-no max buy-in, $5-$10 with a $500-no max buy-in and up. The room will spread most any poker game and condition with sufficient interest.
Caesars offers a variety of scheduled daily poker tournaments--9AM Daily $65, 12PM Mon-Thu $200, 12PM Fri-Sun $330, 3PM Daily $65, 7PM Daily $150 and 11PM Daily $120. In addition to these tournaments there is the popular Ladies Night every Tuesday at 6PM for $75, a Pot Limit Omaha every Monday at 5PM for $75 and starting Nov 7 an Omaha 8 or Better H/L Split for $100. The Caesars Palace Classic is filling the poker room daily through Oct 24. Early returns from the CP Classic are showing success with hundreds of entrants in the daily events.
Players earn comps at the rate of $1/hour with no daily limit and they can qualify for casino room rates. Fun Facts:
•New Year's Eve 1967 motorcycle daredevil, Evel Knievel, attempted to jump over the famous fountains and failed, breaking many bones before the huge crowd of watchers. His son, Robbie Knievel, attempted the same jump in 1989 and was successful.
•Caesars Palace Poker Room is the Las Vegas home of the annual NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
