MONTEL WILLIAMS
Emmy Award-winner talk show host & best selling author Montel Williams is currently in his 17th season as host of THE MONTEL WILLIAMS SHOW. Entertaining, spontaneous and always challenging, Williams continues to address pertinent issues with provocative and meaningful discussions, while maintaining and asserting his own point of view. Williams' concern for the welfare of his guests after the cameras stop rolling caused him to create the After Care Program in 1992. Since its inception, the program has helped thousands of guests by arranging psychological counseling sessions, setting up weight-loss and eating disorder programs, and sending people to drug rehabilitation centers
Montel's latest project is his New York Times Best Selling book, LIVING WELL: 21 Days to Transform Your Life, Supercharge Your Health and Feel Spectacular. (NAL, January, 2008) A manual for leading a healthier life, the book is full of inspiring stories, expert interviews, recipes, workouts, and an easy-to-follow day-by-day program.
Last year, Montel released the motivational "Living Well with Montel" DVD series. The DVDs feature talks by prominent experts in sex, healthy eating and fitness, parenting, finance, and relationships. Created as vehicle for Montel to help viewers after his daily show ends, each set includes the first ever inspirational DVD from Montel called "Who Owns the Definition of You?"
In 2000, Williams created Mountain Movers Press, an imprint of Hay House, Inc., which published Bodychange, a 21-day program to looking and feeling better co-authored by Williams and fitness expert Wini Linguvic, and A Dozen Ways to Sunday, a collection of inspirational stories of hope and courage. Additional publications include Life, Lessons and Reflections and Practical Parenting. Williams also authored the New York Times Best Seller Mountain Get Out of My Way, a motivational autobiography.
When Montel was diagnosed with MS in 1999, he made a pledge to use his celebrity to find a cure. True to his word, he has established The Montel Williams MS Foundation to further the scientific study of MS. The goals and scope of the Foundation are to provide financial assistance to select organizations and institutions conducting research, to raise national awareness, and to educate the public. 100% of public donations go directly to funding MS research. Foundation.
Putting his own words into action, Williams has given electrifying commencement speeches at such notable schools as Lehigh University, Southern Connecticut State and Western Connecticut State University. Montel was also chosen as a panelist for Harvard University's Arco Forum due to his keen understanding of social issues and young intellects.
A father of four children, Montel resides in New York with his wife.
