Poker Strategy Tips On How To Win The Bodog Poker Open IV

Bodog Poker Open IV Championship

The Bodog Poker Open IV is a once in a lifetime opportunity for poker players to win big and become the next online poker superstar. Success in this tournament will require both strategy and luck, but because you can't control your luck, here are some poker strategy tips to help you come out on top.

Regular poker tournament strategy is all about the size of your stack and the size of the blinds. Playing a deeper stacked event affords the player more time to be selective in the early stages of online poker tournaments. Starting chip stacks are generous enough that players can play a tight game, while waiting for premium hands or strong position plays with medium strength holdings.

Hands that are in the lead for value are your best bets and keep bluffs to a minimum. Avoid getting all your chips in without the absolute nuts and try to win medium-size pots that don't jeopardize your poker tournament life.

Decisions to change your level of aggression should be determined by the size of your chip stack compared to the size of the blinds. If your chip stack shrinks to an amount where the blinds are taking 10% or more of your stack, then you should start to increase your level of action to increase your chip stack by either stealing small pots or doubling up through an opponent.

If you find yourself deep into the late stages of the Bodog Poker Open IV, you will have outlasted some of the best online poker players in the world. You would have either beaten out Bodog pros like Justin Bonomo, David Williams, and Evelyn Ng, or you'll possibly be seated at the final table with some of them.

Final table strategy dictates that you play your favorable position hands with aggression and you get out of the way when other players are battling aggressively for a pot. Any player that goes out before you pays you tens of thousand of dollars.

You could be the next big thing in poker if you stick to this general formula and if luck hands you winning cards. Whatever you do, don't miss out on playing the Bodog Poker Open IV and this opportunity to win big! Download poker software for free at Bodog and check out the Poker Open IV schedule for information on all the events.

November Nine WSOP Prop Bets and Team Bodog WSOP Results

Bodog-Mini-Series

Bodog is giving action junkies the chance to get in on the November Nine frenzy with the recent release of their November Nine World Series Of Poker Prop bets now available at Bodog's Online Sportsbook.

The biggest wager revolves around the odds of which player will actually walk away as the 2009 WSOP Main Event champion. The current chip leader - Darvin Moon - is listed as the favorite at 17/10 odds to win the 2009 WSOP Main Event Final Table, followed by Eric Buchman, who is listed at 3/1 odds to win. Right behind them are poker pros Phil Ivey, Steve Begleiter and Jeff Shulman, who are all listed at 4/1 odds to win.

Bodog's oddsmakers have also put Ivey, the most experienced player at the final table, exiting in forth or fifth place at 7/4. Along with these wagers, there are also odds as to whether the winner will be European or American, what suit the final river card on the final hand will be, and many more fun poker prop bets.

Team Bodog had a good run at the 2009 WSOP Main Event with a good number of players making it into Day 3. The Team Bodog professional that went the deepest was Justin Bonomo, who went out in 442nd place. Bonomo managed to make it to the money, but didn't get deep into the big payouts.

Jean-Robert Bellande knocked out David "Chino" Rheem after getting placed at a tough table on Day 1, and David Williams finished in fourth place in the $1,500 Limit Holdem Shootout, narrowly missing winning his second WSOP bracelet. Williams had two other WSOP cashes this year; a 16th-place finish in the $10K PLO World Championship for nearly $35K, and his 597th-place finish in the Main Event for another $21K.

The Team Bodog member that went the deepest was Alper "thunderfx" Sar from Turkey, who qualified for the 2009 WSOP Main Event playing online poker at Bodog by winning a WSOP Semifinal Event. Sar collected $57,991 for an 85th-place finish. At one point his chip stack was as big as 1.9 million, but some bad luck knocked him out before he could reach the big payouts.

Bodog Awards Player With One Of The First Seats To The 2010 WSOP

Bodog-Mini-Series

With the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event on hold until the return of the "November Nine," Bodog.com already has its sights set on next year's Main Event in Las Vegas. One of the first events to qualify online poker players for the 2010 Poker World Series, the Bodog Mini Poker Series, awarded a $12,000 prize package this past Sunday to winner John "Getn_Outa_MI" Ormsby.

"The possibility of winning a seat in next year's Main Event was the main reason I was interested in playing in the Bodog Mini Poker Series," explains Ormsby, who has earned the distinction of becoming the first member of Team Bodog at the 2010 Poker World Series. "I've always wanted to go to Vegas to play in the World Series but have never had the chance. The Mini Series provided me with a great opportunity to do so."

Wrapping up the 13-event online poker tournament series that ran alongside the 2009 Poker World Series Main Event, the Bodog Mini Series Final included 82 players, all who had either won their way in by placing in the top ten of the series' Tournament Leader Board, placing in the top 18 of the Semifinal Tournament held on July 21, or playing in all 13 of the Bodog Mini Poker Series events.

While it was the $12,000 Poker World Series package the players were ultimately battling for, it was not the only prize up for grabs in the Bodog Mini Poker Series Final. "Dannenman" and "turningstone," who finished second and third respectively, each won buy-ins to every event in the upcoming Bodog Poker Open IV (T$2,000). "ManHound" and "prophet" each received seats to any Bodog Flight Club Semifinal (T$270) of their choosing for finishing in fourth and fifth. For placing sixth through ninth, "Mattaru," "Jeffrado," "PrinceSheba," and "757Gam" each won entry to one of Bodog's weekly $100,000 Guaranteed Poker Tournaments (T$162), held every Sunday at 4:00 pm EST.

With the Bodog Mini Poker Series now in the books, attention in the Bodog.com Poker room turns to Bodog Flight Club, which awards online poker players prize packages to major poker tournaments all over the world, including the EPT, WPT and LAPT. Right now, qualifiers are running for the WPT Legends of Poker event at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. Bodog.com players can get started on their way for as little as $1 or 100 Bodog Poker Points.

October Bad Beat and Royal Flush Bonuses

Bodog Poker
Getting beat is bad. Getting a bad beat is great.

October saw 119 online poker players win bad beat and royal flush bonuses in the Bodog poker room. Bonuses ranged from $5 to $1,000 for holding royal flushes and suffering bad beats.

Among the October winners was ndrudy46 who was playing $5/$10 NL on October 28th when he woke up to Ah-Ad and flopped a set of Aces on the board of 3c-Ac-Jc. His opponent, StonecoldMS, was holding Qc-Kc and turned the Royal Flush when the 10c hit. Both players checked the turn and then the fourth Ace fell on the river and of course all of the money went in. ndrudy46's quad aces were cracked and although he lost the post he won the $1,000.

HoldTheNutz proved to be extremely lucky as he was the one player to win both a royal flush and a bad beat bonus during October. Although he wasn't able to get much action from the hand when he made his royal flush in the $1/$2 Fixed Limit game he was playing, the $50 bonus he got definitely made the moment that much sweeter.

His Bad Beat hit while on a $0.50/$1 Fixed Limit table, when he had his pocket Kh-Ks improve to a Full house, Aces over Kings, only to be beat by 4 of a kind Aces.

Head over to the Bodog online poker room for complete details on how to qualify for a Bad Beat or Royal Flush bonus.

Poker Blogger Tournament Puts Bounty on Waffles

Bodog Poker
It's time to take your poker frustrations out on Waffles

Last week's Bodog Poker Blogger Tournament saw the T$109 bounty on the lovely head of poker pro Evelyn Ng. Ng was ousted after calling a preflop all-in push from TonySoprano. The cards were flipped and Ng had a dominant lead with A-K suited against TonySoprano's A-2 suited. Ng never recovered after a two fell on the flop and TonySoprano scooped the bounty.

This week, the T$ 109 bounty has been placed on the head of poker blogger Sir Waffles. The bounty is enough to buy into Bodog's $100,000 Guaranteed tournament that happens each Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.

Online Poker Players and the NFL

Bodog Poker
Keeping track of wins an NFL game can seriously help to build your bankroll

Whether you watch the NFL, or any popular professional sports for that matter, doesn't really matter. But what does matter is that you're at least paying attention to who is winning and whether they were favored in the Bodog Sportsbook.

It's a simple piece of advice for online poker players and it basically boils down to this: If the favored team wins, there will be more sports bettors in the poker room.

You see for an online gambling site like Bodog that has a casino, sportsbook, racebook and poker room, one of the perks of playing poker there is that there are so many fish playing poker who are flush with cash from a big win in the sportsbook or casino. The best way to take advantage of this fact is by paying attention to who wins a game.

Since most bettors put money on the favored team, every time a favorite wins the poker room fills up with players who are not only playing loose with all of their recent winnings, but they are also often less experienced players.

So get in there and take advantage of a poker room where the odds are thoroughly stacked in the experienced players favor. Just keep your eye on the Bodog Sportsbook and see who the favorites are, then be sure to log in and play when the favorites win. You'll definitely see the difference.

Johnathan Westra Beats Evelyn Ng Heads-Up

Bodog Poker
Johnathan Westra battled a Bodog pro heads-up for $6,000

Those who top Bodog's weekly tournament leaderboard are given a chance to take on the Bodog poker pro of their choice for cash. The prize starts at $1,000 and each week that a pro wins the money from last week rolls over to the next. So with the pros having gone 5 weeks without losing the prize was up to $6,000 when Bodog regular Johnathan Westra (UFPokerStar) took on the lovely and talented Evelyn Ng.

It proved to be a hard fought battle as it went 80 hands with Westra crippled at one point and down to 295 chips. But Westra rallied, doubled up and ground away at Ng until he managed to grab the chip lead when both players went all-in with Ng holding Q-7 and Westra Q-9 with a flop of 9-7-Q. Westra's bigger two-pair held up.

Ng never recovered from that hit and was finally called down after pushing with A-4 with Westra holding K-J. Westra made a straight and the $6,000 that came with the win.

Team Bodog's David Williams playing at the WSOP

Bodog Poker made an announcement today about the release of a new and improved, resizable beta poker client for public testing. Bodog Poker's newest version features full screen mode, resizable tables, embedded chat and game details and on-demand player tools.

These changes were brought about with a lot of help from those who know best; Bodog's poker players. This release features the most sought after feature - resizing ability. This marks the first time all of the Bodog community can be involved in a public beta test. Feedback is encouraged as future versions will reflect the input received from you, the player. With every update, each beta version of the Bodog Poker client can be run independently, giving players the ability to choose between the established and beta clients during each session. Upcoming features, including the ability to play on more than three tables simultaneously, will follow the same process.

Morris Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris had this to see in a press release "When Bodog Poker players asked for new features like resizable game play windows and full screen mode, we listened, integrating those features into the new beta client. These new features are just another step in Bodog's on-going evolution and players can look forward to much more in the future."

WSOP Kicks Off Today

Shades

The WSOP is kind of a big deal. Last year the 2007 World Series of Poker drew record numbers, Phil Hellmuth won his 11th bracelet and the young pros of the online poker world showed they had talent at the live tables as well. Today marks the official start of the 2008 World Series of Poker beginning with the $10,000 Pot Limit Holdem World Championship. This means the Bodog Poker Mini-SOP follows suit with a $100+$9 Pot Limit Holdem event. This online poker tournament series will run through July 3 with each tournament held on the same date as its counterpart in Las Vegas but with buy-ins equal to just 1 percent of the actual buy-in of the WSOP Event. After the completion of the series' 25 events, Bodog will host a final tournament on July 10 that will earn three winners seats to the 2009 WSOP Main Event, making Bodog the first online poker site to give away seats to next summer's Main Event.

There are still plenty of WSOP Main Event online poker satellites at Bodog Poker to win a $12,000 2008 WSOP VIP prize package.

The 2008 WSOP runs May 30-July 14 and features 55 different bracelet events in almost every variation of poker. Also, for the first time in the WSOP's 39-year history, the Main Event final table will be delayed in order to have it taped and broadcast in primetime on ESPN the same day the player actually wins the event.

Bodog Poker to Launch Mini-SOP Online Tournament Series This Summer

David Williams
Team Bodog player, David Williams, at the 2007 WSOP

In honor of the most famous poker tournament in the world, The World Series of Poker, Bodog is commencing with an online poker tournament series that will run from May 30-July 3 with each tournament held on the same date as its counterpart in Las Vegas but with buy-ins equal to just 1% of the actual buy-in of the WSOP Event.

Bodog will be running a Tournament Leader Board throughout the series that will be used to decide who will compete in the final, 27-player tournament. The top 4 players on the TLB will instantly qualify, while places 5 through 100 on the leader board will vie for one of 18 seats awarded in a Semifinal qualifier held two days before the final. The last 5 places will be picked from a random "wild card" drawing of players who have entered in at least three of the Mini-SOP events.

After the series' 25 events have wrapped up, Bodog will host one last tournament on July 10 that will grant three seats to the 2009 WSOP Main Event, which makes Bodog the very first online poker site to give away seats to next summer's WSOP Main Event.

For this year's WSOP Main Event, Bodog is still guaranteeing at least six $12,000 Main Event Prize Packages each week. 2008 WSOP online poker satellites start for only $1 and winners of a $12,000 Main Event Prize Package receive the $10,000 buy-in to the main event, $2,000 for travel expenses, and tons of Team Bodog gear.

Matt McCullough wins the Bodog $100k Guaranteed Online Poker Tournament

Our favorite Team Bodog player, Evelyn Ng

Only the best of the best online poker players came out to the Bodog Poker room to play in the $100,000 Guaranteed online poker tournament on Sunday. Bodog regular Matt McCullough came out on top to take the $23,600 first-place prize. If his name sounds familiar, it's because he was the last American poker player standing at the 2007 WSOP Europe Main Event last September as a member of Team Bodog. That event was eventually won by Annette Obrestad.

McCullough and company are clearly honing their skills in preparation for the fast approaching 2008 WSOP in Vegas that starts in less than three weeks. This win suggests that he's in good form and should do well in Vegas.

"Daman04" was just one of a bunch of brand new faces at the final table of this event as it was the first trip there for all of the participants except "muckanut," who finished seventh back in March. Amongst quite a few notable online poker players and Bodog regulars, just getting to the final table was no easy feat. Also at the table were Bodog Poker Open Main Event winner Shawn "phatcat" Luman, Eric "Rizen" Lynch, Smith "nevertilt22" Collins, Matt "thatsNice" Larsh, Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, "daisyxoxo," Garret "GBecks" Beckman, and many, many others.

Bodog Poker's $100k Guaranteed online poker tournament is just one of more than 80 tournaments that Bodog hosts every day. Bodog payouts are a guaranteed $5 million in prize money each month. Check the Bodog Poker Tournament Schedule today to find out when, where and how you can get in, and cash in, on the next big online poker tournament.

Bodog poker's Evelyn Ng takes on Two Bodog Online Players

Bodog's Evelyn Ng playing at the 2007 WSOP

Bodog's Tournament Leader Board heads-up matches took place in the Bodog Poker room with Bodog pro Evelyn Ng going up against two online poker players who were the winner's of their respective weeks.

First was the winner for the week of April 6, "vinnyb9." There was a $3,000 cash prize up for grabs that had rolled over from other player's failed attempt to take out a Bodog pro. This time, though, "vinnyb9″ succeeded and walked away with some hard-earned prize money.

Next up was Bodog regular Johnathan "UFPokerStar" Westra. Unfortunatly for him he had to go against Evelyn Ng after her loss to "vinnb9″ and she got her revenge, sending him home with zero dollars to show for winning the week of April 13. However he qualified for the $12,000 2008 WSOP Main Event prize package, so he has that to look forward to.

Think you could take on the Bodog Poker pros? Work your way up the Bodog weekly tournament leader board and get a shot at one of them and the cash that goes with the glory.. And if you want to be a part of Team Bodog at the 2008 WSOP, check out the 2008 WSOP online poker qualifiers.

The Bodog Poker Open Sets Records!

The Bodog Poker Open Main Event happened last Sunday and set a record for the biggest tournament in Bodog history! The prize pool was just over $300,000 after Bodog sweetened the pot with an additional $25,000.

The field of 596 brought out some heavy hitters like pros Annette "Annette_15? Obrestad, Kevin "beLOWaBOVe" Saul, Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, Eric "Rizen" Lynch and obviously, Bodog pros Josh Arieh, David Williams and Evelyn Ng.

In the end it was Shawn "phatcat" Luman who received the distinction of being named the first-ever Bodog Poker Champion. He earned $76,280 for his win as well as that super flashy and pimpin' Omega Speedmaster watch worth $4,400.

With the Bodog Poker Open all wrapped up for this year, the new focus in the Bodog Poker room will switch to the 2008 World Series of Poker qualifiers. There are at least four WSOP seats up for grabs every week in March and April with that number jumping to five per week in May and June.

Handy Guide to Bodog Poker Tournaments

Bodog guide to online poker tournaments

Not sure which kind of tournament to try? Bodog has many available, here's a guide to what you need to know:

Multi-Table Tournaments

MTTs are the classic tournaments in which everybody starts with the same number of chips and play until somebody is holding them all. Blinds and antes increase to keep the action going and pressure on. The entry fees of players are pooled and divided among the top finishers. A classic MTT is Bodog's Sunday $100K Guaranteed at 4 p.m. EST where hundreds of players compete for a piece of at least $100K.

Freerolls

An MTT that you play for free. Prizes range from cash, to player points, to entries into other, more lucrative MTTs. Bodog periodically will send out special offers to play in tournaments for free. Keep your eyes on your email!

Qualifiers

Sometimes referred to as Satellites, Qualifiers are tournaments designed to allow players to win their way into tournaments with higher buy-ins. Qualifier tournaments pay out with tournament credits which can be used to buy directly into the next level of the tournament. For example, here's how you might qualify to play in the 2008 World Series of Poker.

Sit and Go

SNGs are tournaments that do not start at a certain time but rather as soon as the tournament has filled up. SNGs can be as small as a heads-up match between two players or as big as five tables with 45 players.

Sit and Go Turbos

A SNG variation in which the blinds increase faster. Instead of moving up every 10 minutes, they go up every five. Super Turbos go up every three minutes. These are great tournaments when you don't have too much time to invest.

Every single time you play poker on Bodog you're earning poker points. Put chips into a cash game pot that gets raked, that's some points. Buy-into a tournament or SNG, that's some more points. Just sitting there folding all day long? That's right, you even earn points for time spent at the tables.

The exciting thing about getting all these points is that not only can you use them to buy into various tournaments but now you can also convert them directly into cash! Here's how

When you log into the Bodog Poker software your screen name, eCash balance and amount of poker points you have will be displayed at the top of the screen. If you have at least 2000 points you can convert them to cash by following these simple steps:

1. Go to 'My Accounts'

2. Click on the 'Points to Cash' tab

3. Enter the conversion amount and click 'Convert'

You'll also find incredible value in tournaments like our Player's Choice PTS Quarterfinal which pays out $T 270 for every 17 entrants and the buy-in is only 1000 Bodog Poker Points.

Screen shot of Bodog's new look

The updated look dramatically enhances the player experience in a number of ways, including making the overall game flow more intuitive and making it much easier to follow the action. It's important to note, though, that this is just the first step in a series of exciting new features that Bodog will introduce over the next several months.

To learn more about the updated design and what players can expect in the coming months, check out Calvin's blog post New Software, New Look

The following highlights the new features designed with the player in mind:

• The layout of players now creates a non-linear (circular) line that provides easy to follow action from player to player with each hand.

• Cards are better positioned and sized to provide effortless context of the hand state.

• The player who is 'on action' is highlighted with a softly diffused spotlight with a count down timer displayed to indicate how much time he has to act.

• Multiple felt color options are provided along with brightness control - allowing for user personalization.

• A player's action is clearly displayed from his position.

• Chip stacks and bet values are clearly marked in denomination.

• A centralized "Dash Board" lays out your controls for easy in hand action.

Of note, all new players to Bodog will download the updated look starting today. Existing players have the option to upgrade to the new software.

Bodog Poker

Bodog Founder Calvin Ayre is more than happy to give you some of his money

At some point during the month of November Bodog Poker will be dealing its one-billionth hand and to celebrate this milestone the popular online poker room is giving away over $50,000 in prizes.

"We owe it all to our players for helping us reach our one-billionth hand, and we're saying thanks this November by giving away cash daily as well as tournament credits that players can parlay into a chance at winning thousands, even millions," said Calvin Ayre, Bodog's founder.

"While this is an opportunity to look back at how far we've come since we launched our poker room in 2004, we're already looking forward to dealing our next billion hands. We will continue to provide players with the best online poker experience available as well as Bodog's world-class customer service."

In addition to prizes for milestone hands, Bodog will also hold a daily drawing from November 5 to November 26 with 10 players each day winning $50 each. To qualify for the drawing, players have to earn 100 Bodog poker points. Starting on November 5, once a player earns 100 poker points he or she will earn one entry into every day's drawing for the entire duration of the promotion. The more times the player meets the 100-point threshold, the more entries they receive for every draw.

Once the one-billionth hand is dealt, Bodog will hold a final grand prize drawing with the lucky winner receiving $12,000 paid out in the form of a $1,000 monthly bankroll for one full year.

Bodog's Matt McCullough Has Fun Making Serious Dough

Matt McCullough (with girlfriend Kristina) qualified for the WSOPE by winning an online tournament at Bodog Poker

Team Bodog Poker player Matt McCullough may not have walked away from the final table at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) with millions in his pockets or a gold bracelet around his wrist, but third place and $760,000 in prize money is still pretty sweet. (Plus, taking out pros Phil Hellmuth and Gus Hansen was also kind of cool.)

McCullough qualified for the WSOPE through an online satellite tournament at Bodog and in addition to having his buy-in for the Main Event covered, the popular online poker room also covered his round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, a custom made suit, car service and spending money. When asked if he plans on competing in North America's WSOP next year, McCullough told Bodog Nation reporters: "I'm definitely going to the World Series of Poker next year. Me and Matt Larsh had a side wager going where if either of us made it into the top three, we would buy the other into the World Series of Poker Main Event next year."

You can qualify for any upcoming live poker tournament through one of Bodog's many Player's Choice qualifiers. The WPT event in Spain is just around the corner!

Poker's Best Kept Secret: Bodog's Overlays

091307-61.jpg

An overlay in poker is the extra money that a poker room kicks in for any given guaranteed online poker tournament. They typically happen when the value of the buy-in multiplied by the number of players registered totals less than the actual guaranteed prize pool. And that means more money for you.

Surprisingly enough, overlays are more common than you think. There are so many online poker rooms vying for your entertainment dollar, but Bodog Poker consistently offers the best in the business. With $5 million per month in guaranteed poker tournaments to be won it's no small wonder!

You can get in cheap and pretty much guarantee yourself a great deal every weekend. (And hey, it's a great way to get in on a poker tournament that otherwise would have been beyond your bankroll!)

Check out the Bodog Poker tournament schedule for this weekend's $100K guaranteed online poker tournament and make yourself a little extra dough.

Poker Pro Loses $5K in Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge

Did Phil Gordon skip the 2007 WSOP to play Rock, Paper, Scissors?

With much of the focus these days on the 2007 World Series of Poker, we thought it might be fun to report on something other than poker taking place in Vegas: the 2007 Bud Light USA Rock, Paper, Scissors World Championship.

The rather unusual competition held recently at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino featured 298 competitors from across the U.S., all vying for the coveted USARPS trophy and $50K prize. Thirty-year-old Texan Jamie Langridge would go on to win the event, but it was 9th place winner, Aaron "Premonition" Rich, who created a bigger stir. Rich challenged celebrity guest referee and poker pro Phil Gordon to a best of 10 throw down. The Bodog-sponsored Rock, Paper, Scissors prodigy beat Gordon 10 to 8 and earned himself an extra $5K.

Check out the YouTube video of Rich beating Gordon here. (And if you want to know how to win at Rock, Paper, Scissors read this article.)

There's still time to earn your seat at the WSOP Main Event. Bodog Poker's got WSOP Semifinal Qualifiers every Sunday (2:20 PM ET), Monday (9:15 PM ET) and Thursday (9:15 PM ET) until Monday, June 18.

But that's not all. Bodog Poker has also started running 2007 WSOP Main Event PTS Quarterfinals. For just the cost of 1,000 PTS they will be awarding T$270 (enough for a Semifinal buy-in!) for every 10 players entered.

David Williams is all smiles as he proudly shows off his 2006 WSOP bracelet, which he won playing 7-Card Stud

Team Bodog poker pro David Williams has joined forces with RawVegas.tv in creating his first video blog (or "vlog", as the hipsters like to call it).

Over the course of the year and leading up to the 2007 World Series of Poker, Williams will take you behind the scenes for a glimpse into the life of a professional poker player living large in Las Vegas.

In one clip the 2006 WSOP 7-Card Stud champion takes you on a personal tour of his swanky and very swish Sin City penthouse, which IMHO isn't quite ready for public viewing but it's already got one of the best views of Las Vegas Boulevard. And with plans to add a stripper pole in the living room Williams will undoubtedly have one of the more pimped-out cribs on The Strip.

    But I digress.

Check out his latest vlog entry, "David Williams - Online Poker", to see what he thinks about playing heads-up poker online.

Then, meet up with David Williams in the Bodog Poker Room. You might find him at his No Limit Texas Holdem table, taunting you with a huge stack of chips and a Cheshire grin as big as the Wynn.

If you've been drooling over some of the bigger prize pools at Bodog's online poker room and you're still a little nervous about dropping the $109 buy-in Bodog's got a great way to get you in there for cheap.

Tournament Credits (T$) are earned in certain tournaments and can be used just like cash to buy into ALL regularly scheduled tournaments. So if you've earned yourself say T$44 you could use that to either buy directly into Bodog's $25K Guaranteed or you could combine it with real cash to buy into a larger tournament like the $100K Guaranteed online poker tournament.

You can even turn $1.50 into a $12K WSOP prize package using Tournament Credits. For more info on how to qualify for the WSOP, check out Bodog's WSOP Tournament Schedule.

    The Best Poker Tournament Overlays

If you're thinking of playing in an afternoon poker tournament there have been consistent overlays in Bodog's poker room. Bodog is consistently seeing too few people in their afternoon guaranteed poker tournaments to cover the guaranteed amount.

They've got a range of afternoon tournaments running between 1-3pm.

Monday through Saturday at 1pm is their $10K Super Stack, with a $33 buy-in, in which players start with 5000 chips. On Sundays at 1pm they turn the tournament into a $50K guaranteed with a $109 buy-in.

And of course there's their big $100K guaranteed tournament starting at 4pm with a $109 buy-in every Sunday. Last week the overlay for this tournament was $19K.

Playing Poker For A Living: How Turning Pro Can Really Pay Off

    Wynn Poker Room Review
The prize at this year's WSOP will once again be in the millions!

If you've ever considered quitting your day job or taking time off from school to play poker professionally, 21-year-old Smith Collins is living proof that it's not a stupid idea and that yes it can be done. Successfully.

After making a name for himself online, Collins quickly became a regular at the Bodog Tournament Leader Board but he was still looking for that big win. That's what it takes to succeed as a poker pro, after all. So in order to win big and get a shot at playing against the pros at the World's Largest Championship of No Limit Texas Holdem, Collins needed to win a Bodog WSOP qualifier.

So that's exactly what he did.

Then, he took out Bodog poker pro Josh Arieh in a head-to-head match. For his efforts? Collins won a prize package worth $12,000 and a seat at the World Series of Poker.

It would seem, then, that Collins' decision to quit his job to turn pro is paying off.

Bodog Poker Overlays Give You Greater Value

2007 WPT Five Star Poker Championship

If you're not winning money on a regular basis playing online poker, then you're overlooking the obvious: The overlay poker tournament.

An overlay is the extra money that a poker room puts in above and beyond the amount collected from combined player buy-ins in a guaranteed prize pool tournament. That's called getting a great value.

And Bodog Poker has the best overlays in the business.

When Bodog guarantees a $100K prize pool, for example, that means that no matter how few players enter that tournament $100K will still be awarded. Last week Bodog had 864 entrants, which meant the prize pool would normally have been $86,400. But since Bodog guaranteed it to be at least $100,000 there was a $13,600 overlay.

Bodog's regular Sunday $100K Guaranteed Tournament takes place at 4pm ET. The buy-in is $109 and first prize is always, at very least, $25,000.

    But that's just for starters.

Bodog Poker guarantees $3.5 million in tournament poker prize money to be won each month, so there are bound to be more overlays to cash in on.

Check the Bodog Poker Tournament Schedule for your next chance to play in an overlay poker tournament.
