Kiddie Kandids

Phone: 702.436.7121
Address: 1300 West Sunset Rd. Henderson, NV 89014

Notes: Located at the Galleria at Sunset mall in Henderson, NV

In 1974 Scott Adams and Wayne Fox, two successful professional photographers, formed Kiddie Kandids. Their philosophy has always been Kiddie Kandids is a portrait studio first, and a business second. Sharing a deep passion for photography, the two founded Kiddie Kandids in Orem, Utah on the guiding principle of offering the highest quality children's portraits available for an affordable price. "We looked at the other studios at the time taking children's portraits and realized we could offer a higher quality product for less money, so we did," said Wayne Fox, co-founder. "As I look back at where we started and where we are now, it is almost an accident that we ended up here. Our only focus in opening Kiddie Kandids was to take the best children's portraits available to families. The expansion has happened as a secondary outcome of that goal. We never envisioned it would take off like it has."

"It all started in a small kiosk in the mall," said Scott Adams, co-founder. "The kiosk was located right in the middle of the walkway and we would actually have large crowds gathered around watching the kids and cheering each smile. That is an experience Kiddie Kandids worked hard to create. We thought of the posing stand as a stage and the photographer as a performer. Even though we don't have the studio in the walkway of the mall anymore, that is still the atmosphere we strive to create today."

From Wyland Galleries--

Nearly a quarter of a century ago, marine life artist Wyland exploded on the scene with his rich, majestic murals of marine life. The timing couldn't have been better - the environmental movement was in full swing and the demand for art of the sea was born.

Today, the art is as vibrant as ever and the message of showcasing the beauty of nature is even stronger. But Wyland's mission has expanded in entirely new ways. With new art, a new emphasis on families and education, and a broader view of our relationship to the beauty of our entire blue planet - from our oceans, lakes, and rivers, to our streams and wetlands.

Inspired by the art of nature, the Wyland Brand has established a reputation for the highest quality fine art, gift products, books, and apparel in today's market place. Our partners include some of the world's top companies who are reaching new audiences with the Wyland name and vision, and community organizations who are making a difference.

Notes: Located at the Miracle Mile Shops in the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino

Oh My God...ard! These are usually the first words out of peoples' mouths when they view Michael Godard's artwork. Godard, known as the "Rock Star of the Art World" is currently the #1 best selling artist in the U.S. Since childhood Godard has had paint flowing thru his veins. He attended the University of Nevada in Las Vegas for Fine Arts and later attended The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Godard has been featured on Television in HBO's Cat House, A&E's Criss Angel's Mind Freak, American Casino, Inked, and a myriad of other media. A documentary on Godard's life featured at independent film festivals winning numerous awards. His Book, "Don't Drink and Draw", the art and life of Michael Godard, was awarded Art Book of the Year.

Godard's work is highly collected by movie stars, rock stars, private collectors, from young to old from all walks of life. Godard's imaginative world of art is seen by millions of people each month world wide such as cruise lines, galleries, hotels, television, magazines and countless merchandising kiosks and stores. His paintings even adorn the
walls of the officer's lounge in the Pentagon.

Godard's world of art invites us in to his lighthearted perspective of life that surrounds us, mirroring our lives through martinis with animated olives, drunken grapes, dancing strawberries, including his own vices of gambling and the good life. Godard's unique portrayal of fun is an exciting combination of imagination and often subtle humor which evoke and engage the creative side in "Olive" us. Paintings depicting drunken grapes, gangster olives, dancing strawberries, and flaming dice have taken the conservative art world and turned it on its heel redefining art as we know it with a new definition and of course a punch line.

Today Michael Godard is considered one of the most prolific and influential artists of our time.

From the Vladimir Kush website--

Vladimir Kush
My American odyssey.

I was born in Russia, in small one-storeyed wooden house on the northern edge of Moscow, near the forest-park Sokolniki where in patriarchial times Russian Tsars were engaged in falconry.

My career as an artist began when I was a child of 3 or 4.

My father was a scientist, but everyone on his side of the family used to draw all the time. I remember, how in the long winter evenings I used to sit on my father's lap finishing his drawings: boy running on skis, an old man walking by with the cane...

Just then came to me the sensation of huge open spaces - I knew that beyond the nearby wood the snow-covered great Russian plain stretched on, unimpeded, for thousands of kilometers. And I conceived a dream to absorb the space into myself, to reach the edge of the earth- in the north, where the White Sea begins, or on the south, where Black Sea - Pontus Euxinus of Ancient Greeks - laps the steppes.

At the age of 7, I attended two schools, The first half of the day I went to regular high school. The second half was spent in the art classes until 9 p.m. While riding the subway for one and a half hours each way, I did my home-work for the regular school.

Art school was a world of a new inspiration. The class I attended allowed total artistic freedom. I learned much about the famous Renaissance painters, impressionists, post-impressionists, and contemporary artists. Here I painted my first surreal picture.

When I was 17, I took difficult exams and entered Moscow Art Institute.

When I was 18, I entered into a mandatory two-year stint of military service. After six months of infantry training, the commander of my unit decided that better use could be made of me painting murals and big canvases. Of course, I had to include military elements in these romantic or even fantastic landscapes. In one of those paintings, a radio transmitter was put on top of iceberg in the middle of an ocean.

In 1987, I began selling my paintings and exhibiting with the Union of Artists. At that time, I was invited to paint a series of portraits for the U.S. Embassy staff. I eventually had to curtail my work on these portraits after the KGB became suspicious of my involvement with Americans.

My father's influence at that time was enormous. He said that in ancient Greeve, art and math were considered alike. A mathematician, my father taught me that the plot of a painting must be like a code for solving a task, and as such, must crystal clear to capture the essence of a subject.

I had a successful show in Germany in 1990 with two other Russian Artists. I then flew to Los Angeles, where I had sent 20 of my recent works for a showing. This was a beginning of my American odyssey.

The dream about the wanderings across the wide open spaces, eventually brought me to the Hawaiian island of Maui - the World Navel, there the infinity of Great Ocean merges into the infinity of bottomless Cosmos. The "umbilical cord" connecting these open spaces, could be seen from windows of my shouse- it is a super-telescope through which the mankind for the first time saw the most ancient spots of our universe- places where drops of space condensing, turn into drops of time...

From Thomas D. Mangelson's Images of Nature website--

With his formative years spent along the banks of the Platte River hunting and fishing, Tom Mangelsen's understanding of the natural world stems from a childhood rich in outdoor adventures. Tom grew up exploring the Nebraska landscape with his brothers Bill, David, and Hal, many times at their father Harold's side. Handcrafting his first frames with David in their garage, Tom bucked convention of what was traditionally considered "art" and opened his first gallery in Jackson, Wyoming in 1978, featuring signed, limited edition prints in the tradition of wildlife artists such as Owen Gromme, an early mentor.

Garnering attention from early collectors led to more exhibitions; his work is now offered in sixteen Images of Nature® galleries across the United States. Tom's accolades and critical acclaim range from being named BBC's "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" in 1994 and the North American Nature Photographer's "Outstanding Nature Photographer of the Year" in 2000, to the recipient of a Royal Photographic Society Honorary Fellowship in 2002. In 2005, he was named "One of the 100 Most Important People in Photography" by American Photo Magazine, one of only two wildlife-environmental photographers selected for the list.

Tom's photography has also been published in leading magazines such as Audubon, National Geographic, Life, Wildlife Art and National Wildlife and featured on television programs from The Today Show and Good Morning America, to CNN's World News and ABC's World News Tonight with Peter Jennings.

Twenty books for children and young adults have been illustrated with Tom's photography. Published fine art books include "Images of Nature: The Photography of Thomas D. Mangelsen" (now in its twelfth printing); "Polar Dance: Born of the North Wind" (recipient of the American Booksellers Association's 1998 Best of Small Press Award, and a "Holiday Pick" on Good Morning America); and "Spirit of the Rockies: The Mountain Lions of Jackson Hole," the first and only portrayal of cougars in the wild. In 2007, Tom released his fourth fine art book, "The Natural World," based exclusively on his work in the panoramic format.

From Department 56--

One Christmas evening, a group of friends set off to enjoy a dinner of celebration at a small country inn nestled in a quiet river town. As they rounded a bend in the road, they saw the small, old-fashioned village decorated for the holidays. The lights, like fairies, glowed and sparkled amid the freshly fallen snow. All evening, the conversation was full of Christmas memories and the visions the tiny town had evoked. Amidst the jovial banter and magical memories, the idea for a lighted Christmas village was born. That spark of an idea became a reality when, in 1976, Department 56 introduced a series of six hand-painted, ceramic buildings. The rest is history.

Martin Roberts

Phone: 702.414.1015
Address: 3377 Las Vegas Blvd. So. Las Vegas, NV 89109

Notes: Located at the Grand Canal Shoppes

Martin Roberts began his artistic career as a boy with a brownie box camera. Today, he is one of the most collected and "owned" artists in the country, with people seeing his works in such spectacular settings as the Venetian and Bellagio Resorts or in simple stores of main streets across America.

Martin's work is visually appealing with a detail unimaginable because he is a mixed-media artist. His work is collected as a fine art paintings, which in fact they are...but they have all started with extraordinary black and white photographs over which he layers acrylics, watercolors, and oil paints. The result is exquisite, three dimensional, extremely informal and relaxing, with cascading flowers, foliage and textured colored walls.

Mediterranean, Provence and Tuscany subjects are his specialization with series featuring Venice and Rustic English Cottages as well. One of his most well known pieces entitled "Cardinal at the Vatican" was produced for Cardinal Hamer of the Vatican. His exhibitions have included the Leica Gallery in Manhattan; a distinction so rarely given to American artists.

"I want to create a work of art with a composition so compelling that my collectors say that this is something that they must own. Not because of the financial rewards it brings me, which in fact is nice...but it is so extremely flattering that people whom I have never met have my work hanging in their homes."

Lladro

Phone: 702.650.9894

Notes: Located at the Fashion Show Mall

In 1953 Juan, José and Vicente Lladró make their first creations inspired by an experimental vocation in a Moorish furnace built in their own home in Almàssera (Valencia). In this way, they develop their artistic interest as they work in a tile and crockery factory. These carefully designed pieces already have a special charm that awakens public interest.
By 1955 they begin making sculptures in which a clear influence of the trends of the XVIII century can be observed. These pieces evoke the works of former porcelain artists such as Meissen, Sèvres and Capodimonte.

In 1958 Juan, José and Vicente decide to dedicate themselves exclusively to their own works and transfer their small company to a warehouse in the neighboring town of Tavernes Blanques, because the family workshop has become too small for their business. Demand for Lladró creations grows unexpectedly. The brothers introduce innovations not only in the design and style of the figurines but also in the firing techniques, reducing the three-layer firing to a one-layer process. One-firing is an innovative method which creates the crystalline finish and the pastel tonalities typical of Lladró works.

A growing number of sculptors, chemists and decorators increase the production of the brothers' work. They soon decide to incorporate a logo on all their figurines. Beside "Porcelanas Lladró", they add a Greek master piece, the Victory of Samotracia, thus associating their surname to the ideal of classical art.

By the end of this decade, Lladró opens a store in Valencia and two more within a few years' time.
